crafty monday.

today i have the day off from school...and i have been quite productive if i do say so myself. i bought my awesome new camera [canon rebel t3] on black friday and it came with a big bulky bag, which has been nice for the time being since it was free with the camera. but it's just too big and bulky to take places.  so i found directions on how to make your own via pinterest. i wanted to make it over Christmas break but ran out of time.

good bye, old bulky bag.

old purse that i found. had to cut the insert out.

i forgot to take pictures while sewing...you measure the inside of the bag. cut the foam & fabric according to the measurements. sew 3 sides of the fabric and insert the foam and sew up the last side.  i am no master sewer by any means, but it doesn't look horrible. just don't look closely :)

ta-da! i'm very excited about it....it's not perfect but i like it. off to go see "we bought a zoo." i'm excited!

welcome to michigan, winter.

we finally have some snow here in michigan. i could take it or leave it. i like to look at it but don't like to drive in it, clear it off my car etc. we have had warmish weather (well 40 is warm for january here) lately and i have been anticipating the snow.

this morning i spent a while changing the design of my blog. i'm still working on it, but like it so far... i'm not very good at this whole blogging thing, but i'm working on it. so bare with me.

anywho, i sure am thankful for this three day weekend i have ahead of myself. it has been a long week. monday morning started out by having to go to a funeral. my friend's brother in law died last week. funerals are not fun. no one likes the idea of death. but this young (32) man was found dead in his home and his family may have to wait up to seven months for autopsy results. i only met him a few times, but was a nice man. just add their family to your prayers please.

on monday, i have a fun project planned all thanks to pinterest. pictures to come (if it turns out well that is!)

the video below has been streaming on a lot of my friends facebook all week. and i finally got a chance to sit down and watch it this morning. take a look, it's worth the time.

i got this beauty in the mail this week! ahh. so excited for my new erin condren planner. i stumbled upon this again, from pinterest. and i LOVE it.

it has tabs for each month!

week at a glance.

each day is divided up into 3 parts: morning, afternoon & night.

found a new, yummy recipe to try.

adding sugar free flavoring syrup to my coffee now. it's yummy :)

new nail polish i picked up last night.

cousin it.

i am need of a hair cut. but the million dollar question is.
bangs. or no bangs?
obviously my bangs are getting long (as you can tell by the first picture below)...so  if i decide to grow them out, now would be a good time because they are so long. so my question is- bangs or no bangs?

hello cousin it.

with bangs- that are obviously longer than i normally have.

pulled back.

ps. am i still to f.a.t. to be wearing my shirt tucked into my pants? i had a funeral to go to this morning, hence the dressy clothes. [i teach preschool, so i don't wear dress clothes to school. heeeello stains on all my nice clothes.]

happy monday.

resolutions.

lets just be honest here. i always fail on my new years resolution...hence why i don't really make one. but this year is different. i actually started my resolution part way through december.  ever since middle school i have struggled with weight. yadda yadda yadda. right? that seems to be everyones new years resolution [loose weight].
i started taking zumba in july and LOVE it.  the only downfall? it is around $40 for 6 weeks. boo. i would take it more than one day a week if i could afford to do so. but i do have a gym in the clubhouse of my apartment. now, it's not the best/up-to-date equipment. but it works.  now that i am back to work i had a hard time figuring out when i could go to the gym. see my week is a little crazy.
monday-free
tuesday-free
wednesday-Bible study
thursday-zumba
friday-small group
saturday & sunday-depends on my schedule
so the only free nights i could work out are monday & tuesday. but i have zero motivation when i get home from work at 6pm.  working with 16 three and four year olds can drain you.  not to throw around excuses, but the last thing i want to do is come home and go to the gym.  sooo this leads me to my brilliant [at the time] plan. wake up and work out before work [at 7am]. ick. tomorrow will be my first day of doing this. so we'll see how it goes.
i am on the hunt for healthy snacks & meal ideas. i have several cookbooks & books on the whole dieting thing. but i like to hear first hand experience that has worked for someone else.
i read that it is good to keep a food journal.  well a co-worker of mine told me about loseit.com so i just joined. it is a digital food journal. i can even log my workouts in for the day.
but i am hoping with my awesome new planner will help me with this too. i was very leery about buying it because it has a pretty price tag. but i finally caved and bought it. hopefully i will have it soon!
any tips/tricks/helpful hints are appreciated.

happy tuesday.

last day of school break.

the time has come. time to go back to work. i love my job and teaching the kids, but it is nice to have a few days off. i have enjoyed my break immensely.  i have been super productive and had some fun along the way.  new years eve was fun. just went over to a friends house and played cards, mingled and rung in 2012 with high hopes that it will be a good year.  2011 had its ups and downs. of course no one likes the downs, but i have come to realize that the downs help make you grow.  at the time, they are not so fun and i can attest to that. if you were to ask me seven months ago, i would say you are crazy. i have grown so much over the last year [more so over the last seven months].  i know that God has a plan for my life and i am excited to see what He has in store for me.  time to get ready to head back to school tomorrow. only a 4 day week though :)

treats i made for new years eve.

my sparkly cupcakes which i loved.

organizing my children's books.

this is going to make life so much easier when i need to get books for school.

up close.
